Old Friends

There are some friends that you can just pick up with right where you left off...the friends that know you're quirks and you wonder how you get along without them. I hung out with Sacha and Deb tonight-it was definitely a reunion because all three of us haven't been together in one place for over a year. We had an amazing cookout, with burgers, corn on the cob, pasta salad and topped off with margaritas. Some people are just irreplaceable. =)
Dinner was followed by an amazing dessert otherwise known as goodnight kisses from Justin. An all around pretty good day.

O's game

We were invited to go to an O's game tonight with Brian and Brea, we had a great time and the seats were perfect!! (Thanks to Brian's mom) We were right on the 1st base line, basically perfect for scaring the poop out of me when a foul ball was hit. Don't worry, Justin protected me. =) It was good to catch up with them and hear about all of the new things in their lives.

Redemption

Today started out as a pretty good day: I decided to take 695 to work to see if it is faster in the mornings and God just gave me an incredible gift as I drove into what seemed like another long day at work.

A rainbow. I was listening to Starfield's, "Everything is Beautiful" just as I saw it and I was struck by how amazing God's promises to us are. They are revealed through something as amazing as a rainbow. I felt like God put that rainbow, right there in my path, just to show me how much He loves me.

"Everything is beautiful, even when the tears are falling, I don't need a miracle to believe. Even in the crashing down, I can hear redemption calling and everything is beautiful to me."

I was convicted of how easily I fall away from trusting God and his perfect plan for my life.

What day is today?

Today is a pretty important day....

On July 16, 2005 The sixth book in the popular Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by JK Rowling is released to record sales of 287,564 books per hour in its first 24 hours, making it the fastest selling book in history.

On July 16, 2004 American business magnet Martha Stewart is sentenced to five months in prison for lying about a stock sale.

On July 16, 1999 John F. Kennedy Jr., his wife Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, and sister-in-law Lauren Bessette are killed in a plane crash off the coast of Martha's Vineyard.

On July 16, 1994 The civil war in Rwanda ends.

On July 16, 1980 Ronald Reagan wins the Republican presidential nomination at the party's convention in Detroit.

But more importantly it's Rachel's birthday today!!! Happy birthday =) I hope it's marvelous!

What is a sister?
She is your mirror shining back at you with a world of
possibilities.
She is your witness who sees you at your worst and best,
and loves you anyway.
She is your partner in crime, your midnight
companion, someone who
knows when you are smiling, even in the dark.
She is your teacher, your defense
attorney, your personal press agent, even
your shrink.
Some days, she's the reason you wish you were an only
child.

Rach, you have the same birthday as Will Ferrell, Orville Redenbacher and Ginger Rogers!!! How great is that?! I will eat some popcorn in celebration. Love you!!!

Break Down Here

I know we all have them, songs that remind us of our past. It’s amazing how hearing the lyrics and tune to a certain song can take you back to an exact moment in your life-along with all of the emotion you felt in that pin prick in time. My song today, was a country song that I clung to during a rough period in life, and I was amazed at how just hearing this song, flooded my mind with memories. I wonder why music has that effect on us?

5

This number has always been my favorite. Growing up it was because I was number 5 in a long line of siblings-the 5th child, the youngest, the one who managed to dodge the administration, otherwise known as mom and dad. In highschool it morphed into becoming my number in volleyball-- emilysharon #5 turned up everywhere, in highschool yearbooks, letters being passed illegally and most importantly on Mr. Slonakor's white board with a few check marks next to it for talkative behavior-which usually progressed into getting a noon. The 5th song on every CD I would buy would end up being the greatest song on the planet. The list could go on, number 5 was good to me. In more recent years, it seemed to be forgotten, until today. I realized something...

On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, the number 5 plays a vital role in my day. The 5th floor, my refuge. The cafeteria.

On another note, I read that today is National Ice Cream Day, thanks to President Reagan. 9% (too bad it's not 5) of all of the milk that is produced by U.S. dairy farmers is used to produce ice cream. That's alot of ice cream...eat up!!

I love him

The beginning...

To keep up with everyone else, I decided to start blogging! I love reading what everyone else is up to, day to day, so this is an open window into my life, the day to day drama or lack thereof. =)
With everyone spreading out and getting married, it's tough to keep in touch sometimes...
As I'm writing this, Justin is laying next to me on the couch and I look at the tv and there he is watching a soccer game.
Emily: "oh man, is this what i have to put up with for the rest of my life?"
Justin: "No, just while you're on the computer."
So it looks like we both will have alot of blogging and soccer to look forward to in the future. =)
